Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the theoretical foundations of educational administration. It begins with a discussion of the various theoretical frameworks that inform educational administration, including classical and contemporary approaches, systems theory, leadership theory, and theories of change and innovation. It also examines the role of theory in educational administration and the importance of applying theoretical concepts to real-world contexts. This chapter focuses on developing a deep understanding of the complex systems underpinning educational organizations and the diverse perspectives that can inform effective administration. Ultimately, this chapter highlights the critical role of theory in shaping educational policy and practice and offers insights into how theoretical frameworks can be used to promote social justice and equity in educational administration.
